Precalculus I

Taught in the Spring and Fall of 2026 at Old Dominion University.

Full-course, Preparing content, preparing exams, holding office hours, grading exams.

This course featured a few pedagogical innovations to enhance student engagement and understanding. Some of there are the result of teaching exchanges and workshops that I attended. Others were developed as part of my participation in the Quality Enhancement Program initiative at Old Dominion University. Used pedagogical strategies included:

  • Problem sprints to enhance student’s recall and algebraic pattern recognition (example 1)
  • A reflection writing activity was used to engage the student in thinking cretically about the use of Language Simulators (Generative AI or LLMs) and build their mathematical reasoning by attempting to explain their problem-solving process and the underlying algebraic concepts.
